📚 WWW Wednesdays #10

What Are You Reading Wednesdays is a weekly book-blogging meme hosted by Sam at Taking on a World of Words.

The concept is simple, answer the following questions:

  • What are you currently reading?

  • What did you recently finish reading?

  • What do you think you’ll read next?

You can join in to! Just leave a comment with your link at Taking On's blog and then go on an adventure to find what other people are reading.

What are you currently reading?

The Haunting of Hill House by Shirley Jackson and The Language of Thorns by Leigh Bardugo

Okay so I did what I said I would do, and to a certain extent stuck to my 'horror/October' books for this month and started reading The Haunting of HIll House by Shirley Jackson (F of JAF's book of the month pick). So far, other than a few ominous things being hinted at, nothing outright scary or unnerving has occurred.

In the book's defense, I have been getting distracted by The Language of Thorns. I am a sucker for Fairy/Folk Tales, and damn does Leigh Bardugo do an amazing job of making her tales seem like 'classics' in every sense of the word. There is nothing sweet, though some endings can be considered happy, no sugar coating (though some mentions of sugar :-)). And don't even get me started with the illustrations.

What did you recently finish reading?

The Grip of It by Jac Jemc

I know, I know, technically I finished reading this the last time I wrote a WWW Wednesday, but I haven't finished reading a book sense then (much to my chagrin) so I'll just have to leave you with my review of The Grip of It: here!

What do you think you'll read next?

null

Once again, I am torn between two books, both highly anticipated (in my eyes), both from authors I absolutely adore, and both which will be more than worth it (I hope). Either I read All the Crooked Saints by Maggie Stiefvater or The Book of Dust by Philip Pullman.

And that's it for my three WWW's this week! If you've read any of the books, have heard about them, or just want to discuss bookish goodness, feel free to comment below!
