✍️ NaNoWriMo: Week 3 of Pantsing
I like week 3. I mean, considering the panic and desperation of Week 2, that should not come as much of a surprise. But week 3 is calmer, honestly. I have, as a Pantser, accepted my Pantsing faults and pitfalls, and have resigned myself to just writing what I can write, even if that writing is me talking about how I cannot seem to think of anything to write.
(yes, that happens… a lot… but it has happened when I was a Planner too, so I am not much concerned about it).
Week 3 was a mix of both Week 1 and 2 (helpful, right?) there's a little bit of excitement, second wind if you will, mixed with anxiety of being over half way through the month (and, potentially, not being halfway through the story). I wanted to make a rollercoaster analogy to describe the first three weeks, but I am not sure if it would work.
You know what, let us give it a shot -->
Week 1: Getting on the roller coaster. You're scared, but excited. You cannot wait to embark on this adventure, your creative juices are flowing, everything is awesome.
Week 2: The first hill. You've begun the steep climb up the first hill/drop. You are beginning to severely regret your decisions, your whole body (and mind) is tensing up, what made you think this was a good idea? How high does this thing go?!
Week 3: The drop. Your heart is in your throat, you're screaming your lungs out, but you've never felt so exhilarated in your life. You know there are more loops and drops to come, but none so bad as that first one, and if you could handle that, well, you can handle anything.
Was that cheesy? I think that was cheesy. Also, now I want to go to a theme park (IMG World's of Adventure, anyone?). I know I did not say what Week 4 was yet, but we have not gotten there yet so you will just have to wait ;-)
The point is, we're in the home stretch. We've gotten this far and we can make it to the finish line together. We got this. We Wrimos, we madmen and women, writers of different genres and methods and styles, nightowls and earlybirds, coffeeaddicts and chocolate consumers, all of us banded by, committed to, this one goal. We are awesome, *you* are awesome, and don't you forget it.
P.S. I realize that these weekly thoughts of mine are borderline ramble-y, and maybe a tad bit repetitive, but I hope that they have been either helpful or potentially entertaining (or both).
